Colour, gesture and the essence of subjects are fundamental facets to Jacqui’s artwork. With a love for pattern, profound sayings and quirky characters, Jacqui draws on elements of figurative expressionism alongside the world she lives in to give her inspiration and passion in her quest to create. Jacqui explores the figures and subjects central to her work through layers of (often different) media. In turn this helps give body and soul to the forms as she gets to know them in an emergent process. It is through this approach that every image has its own story.
Jacqui is also passionate about how the arts can inform our knowing of ourselves and our experiences. She advocates the benefits of self-expression and wellbeing through the processes involved in art making and creating.
Jacqui initially studied Textile Design and Fine Arts at RMIT, then completed a Graduate Diploma of Education, followed by a Masters Degree in Experiential and Creative Arts Therapy from the MIECAT Institute. She has extended her training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (including Trauma Informed Practice), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, ASIST (Suicide Intervention), and Mindfulness.
Jacqui continues to exhibit, run community arts projects, art therapy workshops, and offers individual sessions in arts based psychotherapy and creative art journalling. She juggles this with motherhood, lots of tea drinking, and her own artistic endeavours.
